𝝅 🥧 Mrs. Whipple had the perfect shirt for celebrating the world's most famous irrational number, AND St. Patrick's Day yesterday! Middle school math classes celebrated a belated Pi day as well as the wearing o' the green with sweet treats.

Spring is almost here, & 2nd grade is learning about seeds & how they travel! Did you know some seeds travel half way around the world before they're planted? Students made replicas of Koa, Maple, & Rain tree seeds, then noted how each kind falls differently to the ground.
🌈 ☘️ Mrs. Wojtaszek's grade 2 class was soo close to catching a leprechaun yesterday! ...But boy did he leave their classroom in disarray! The leprechaun was careless though & dropped a golden chocolate coin for each student to enjoy. They also ate a rainbow of fruit for snack!
🌮 It's #TacoTuesday & that means #WalkingTacos for lunch! Check out Mr. Quinn & Mrs. Braunscheidel's new & improved recipe... it got a resounding "thumbs up" from students last time we served it - be sure to order tacos for the month of April lunch orders, coming out soon!
🎭 Our SMS Drama Club is hard at work again, preparing for their April 25th & 26th productions of “Music Man Jr.”!

SMS parents/guardians, if you'd like photos taken of your student(s) on Tues., 3/25, order online at mylifetouch.com, or use the paper order forms that came home. Students getting SPRING pictures taken may dress up out of uniform on 3/25, Montessori K & Kindergarten students may wear their uniforms under the supplied cap & gowns, unless they are getting Spring pictures as well.

Mr. Baker's 4th graders tried to use the "luck o' the Irish" to create their own rainbows today using only Play-Doh & Froot Loops! They ended the activity with a museum walk to see how each group completed the task!

Last Friday students (and a teacher, congrats Mrs. Bishop!) were recognized for displaying the virtue of REVERENCE, or showing your deepest respect for things of God, during the month of February. Third grader Shannon T. won February's Diocesan Character Award for INCLUSION by making sure everyone feels valued & part of the group. Congratulations to all!

Mrs. Laderer and Mrs. D'Angelo had a great Lunch Bunch with the 5th grade girls. They were tasked with building the tallest freestanding balloon tower they could using only body language and gestures. Before heading to a a girl's only lunch in the classroom, Mrs. Laderer lead them in a discussion about what would have made the structure stronger...SUPPORT! We all need to support one another through our words, actions, and prayers during this Lenten season.
🍀🌈💛Grade 1 is looking to trap some sneaky leprechauns! Students brought in recyclable materials from home to make these ingenious creations that will be set up in their classroom over the weekend.... do you think they'll be successful?

🔍 Honey, they shrunk the vocab list! Mr. Baker's 4th graders became experts on their ELA vocabulary words this week by creating posters that were then shrunk down so each student had their own set of special flash cards to study from!

The SMS/NVBM JV girls finished their season with a win against Nichols (10-9) over the weekend in the Christ the King Tournament. Mia G. had a season-high 8 points and Millania M. had 2 points. The team played exceptional defense to come back from a 5-0 deficit at the half & get the win.
Alexa Z., Elyse R., Kaitlyn M., Lucy C., Francesca M. & Lizzie T. all contributed with numerous steals, rebounds & assists.
In their first year playing together, the JV girls had a great season. They always represented their schools by showing good sportsmanship & respect for each other & other players. Great job ladies!
