☀️🎒🙏 On this beautiful sunny, Sunday morning after 9 am Mass, Father Tom blessed the backpacks of students returning to school this fall! Students from SMS and all schools were invited, and each child received a special SMS pen as a gift. We’d like to wish everyone a happy, safe school year filled with lots of learning and growing!

Don't forget.... STUDENTS OF ALL AGES FROM ALL SCHOOLS - bring your backpacks with you to Mass tomorrow at 9 am for St. Mary's blessing of backpacks! Backpacks will be blessed tomorrow after Mass outside the front of the church. ALL STUDENTS will receive a special back-to-school blessing and gift!

Our hearts are shocked & saddened by the news out of Minneapolis today. Our prayers are with the victims, their families, & the entire Annunciation school & parish community.
Lord, have mercy. Your little ones were taken from us today while gathered at your altar. We can hardly breathe under the weight of it.
Hold these children close in Your arms. Hold their mothers who will never again tuck them in. Hold their fathers, their siblings, their friends, their teachers. Hold every parent whose heart trembles with fear sending their children into the world.
Jesus, we weep with You now. Bring comfort where there are no words, and give us courage to be peacemakers in a world that so desperately needs Your light.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon them.

We look forward to seeing our students & their parents tomorrow (Thurs., 8/28) for Orientations, First Lessons, & Supply Drop Off! If you have medication for the school nurse, please drop off between 10:30 am and 2 pm.
We were so glad the rain held off tonight for our annual Popsicles with the Principal gathering! Many new & veteran SMS families showed up to mingle and play on the playground this evening, as well as enjoy a sweet treat.

🔬Our final Montessori Summer Adventure for the year had students experimenting with science! The children did several experiments, including using their sense of smell to determine what kind of extract was on a cotton ball, as well as observing how when they put a finger in soap, then dipped it in a bowl of water & pepper, the pepper moved away!
Also, thank you to the Attea family who donated the jumbo unicorn sprinkler to help keep our little scientists cool in the hot weather!

Lio attended SMS since grade 6 & was an active member of the Drama Club. She participated in the 8th grade service projects & was always encouraging to those in her Faith Family. Lio received awards for Improvement in Spanish & Social Studies, Excellence in Science, Achievement in PE, Outstanding Achievement in Art, & received Second Honors. She will attend Williamsville South.

🐝💙🤍🎓 We're celebrating the SMS #Classof2025 all summer long & wishing them well as they head off to their next chapter - high school!
Quinn started at SMS in middle school, & participated on our swim & basketball teams, as well as in early AM intramurals. She was an active school volunteer, participating in service projects & giving tours during Open Houses. She also served as the class Treasurer. Quinn received the following awards at graduation: the NYS Attorney General Triple "C" Award, the President's Award for Academic Achievement, the Sister Sheila Ann Burke Memorial Award, awards for Improvement in Science, Technology & Reading, awards for Effort in Math & Religion, & she was also on the Merit Roll. Quinn will attend Lockport High School this fall.
