St. Mary's Varsity Volleyball Bees are showing great teamwork as they take the first match against St. Amelia's tonight.

In addition to Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades also visited Akron Acres on this beautiful fall day! Students learned about pumpkins and how they grow, as well as all kinds of animals including horses, cows, rabbits, turkeys, and more! #fallfun #fieldtrip #downonthefarm

The SMS/Nativity Swim Team participated in another meet over the weekend! We're proud of all of our student athletes and their commitment to good sportsmanship, respect for coaches and teammates, and dedication to a healthy lifestyle. #youthsports #catholicschoolsports #goBEES

Mr. Mark Fenz is one of the highlights of many students' 4th grade year here at St. Mary's. Mr. Fenz comes to us from The Prevention Council of Erie County. He visits our 4th grade class for character education and has engaging talks with our students about respect, self control, accountability, perseverance, and so much more. His stories and lessons follow the students well beyond their 4th grade year and still are talked about when they move onto Middle School. We LOVE having Mr. Fenz visit us here at St. Mary's, we are so BLESSED again this year!

Each month students at SMS adopt a virtue to learn about and embody. At the end of the month, students from each grade are recognized for their ability to live out that virtue.
The virtue of the month for September is temperance. St. Thérèse of Lisieux exercised temperance in the small annoyances of her day as a way of pleasing Jesus. So when a sister in her community grumbled, St. Thérèse smiled and chatted cheerfully with her, or when a lunch companion mentioned being thirsty, St. Thérèse offered her the last gulp of cider in the pitcher. We, too, can be on the lookout for these little moments to practice temperance.
St. Thérèse's feast day is coming up on Oct. 1. #mondaymotivation #littleway #sainttherese

"Just make a mark, and see where it takes you." Mrs. Genovese, our amazing art teacher here at SMS helps students of all ages discover their artistic talents. Students have been creating this evolving, collaborative bulletin board in our main hallway, based on the book "The Dot", by Peter H. Reynolds, and it's turning into quite the masterpiece!

A quality education, and so much more. #SMStheplacetoBEE

Tomorrow is the official first day of Fall! SMS students were busy this past week creating artwork that captures the beauty of God's creation in this season. ☺️🍂🍁🌻🐿 #happyfall

This Sunday is Priesthood Sunday. Please thank a priest and keep the priesthood in your prayers!

Fr. Art, one of the priests from our family of parishes, celebrated our Friday school Mass this morning. He commended the lectors from our 8th grade, the altar servers, and beautiful singing from our entire student body!
SMS students are blessed with opportunities to participate in school Mass on a weekly basis.

Correction: OKTOBERFEST is NEXT Saturday evening, SEPTEMBER 30, 5:30- 9:00, in the gym. Adults 21+ are invited. Admission $5/person, BYO snacks welcome, fun German food for purchase, beer/wine, music by the Frankfurters. Oopa!

“The future starts today, not tomorrow.” - St. John Paul the Great
#MondayMotivation
Also known as Saint John Paul II, Catholics remember him as being the first non-Italian pope, forgiving his attacker after an assassination attempt, and being outspoken about human rights. St. John Paul the Great knew that every day was a chance to pave the way for a better future. With the mentality that the future starts now, you can live each day with new motivation to make life the best it can be, for you and the people around you.

We are so blessed to have Profe Maria as our new Spanish teacher here at St. Mary School! She sees all of our K-8 students, even our little ones in Montessori. She can be seen & heard all around the classrooms with her guitarra (guitar) & marionetas (puppets); Pepe the monkey and Sunshine the duck. Pepe has been helping the kindergarten class learn their colors in Spanish & when he’s done, he takes a nap in Profe Maria’s bag! 🐝🐒🦆
