Our Montessori full day friends had so much fun this afternoon with story cubes! After rolling the dice, students worked together to create a fun & creative story. Here's what they came up with: On a sunny day(☀️), I went to my house(🏠), my house was on fire (👩🏼‍🚒), I ran out, I saw a bat(🦇), I was sad. Happy St. Joseph's Day, especially to those SMS students in Mrs. Picone's St. Joseph Faith Family! St. Joseph was the husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the foster-father of Jesus, & a carpenter. Through his work St. Joseph provided for the Holy Family & shared in the divine plan of salvation. He was a good & patient man. Even though he never speaks in the Bible, St. Joseph was a man of action. He always obeyed God even though he did not always understand. Through his love and care for Jesus & Mary, St. Joseph showed his love for God. Feast Day: Mar. 19 Symbol: Carpenter’s tools Faith Families are groups of students, each represented by a Saint & led by one of our teachers. Our Kindergartners are a "force" to be reckoned with! They had a big, blue, special guest for Science recently when they were invited down to Mrs. Witkowski's science lab. They first reviewed what it means to be a scientist & how to make predictions, then did a special experiment & movement activity on forces! Kindergartners learned how to move "Big Bluey" (a huge blow up elephant) with pushes & pulls, drew their own examples of forces, & sorted toys based on the type of forces that move them. Spring is almost here, & 2nd grade is learning about seeds & how they travel! Did you know some seeds travel half way around the world before they're planted? Students made replicas of Koa, Maple, & Rain tree seeds, then noted how each kind falls differently to the ground.

🌈 ☘️ Mrs. Wojtaszek's grade 2 class was soo close to catching a leprechaun yesterday! ...But boy did he leave their classroom in disarray! The leprechaun was careless though & dropped a golden chocolate coin for each student to enjoy. They also ate a rainbow of fruit for snack!

Mrs. Laderer and Mrs. D'Angelo had a great Lunch Bunch with the 5th grade girls. They were tasked with building the tallest freestanding balloon tower they could using only body language and gestures. Before heading to a a girl's only lunch in the classroom, Mrs. Laderer lead them in a discussion about what would have made the structure stronger...SUPPORT! We all need to support one another through our words, actions, and prayers during this Lenten season.
