The month of September is dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows, a title given to Mary as she suffered alongside Christ during his passion. Our Lady of Sorrows is one of many titles bestowed upon Mary. This title is derived from Simeon’s prophecy during Jesus’ presentation at the Temple in the Gospel of Luke.
Opening prayer of Novena to Our Lady of Sorrows:
O, Mother most holy and sorrowful, Queen of Martyrs, you who stood by your Son as He agonized on the cross; by the sufferings of your life, by that sword of pain that pierced your heart, by your perfect joy in heaven, look down on me kindly as I kneel before you, sympathizing with your sorrows and offering you my petition with childlike trust. Dear Mother, since your Son refuses you nothing, ask of His Sacred Heart to mercifully grant what I ask, through the merits of His sacred passion, along with those of your sufferings at the foot of the cross. Mother most merciful, to whom shall I go in my misery if not to you who pities us poor, sinful exiles in this valley of tears? Support for Project Mission India by St. Mary's Parishioners Continues. After Rev. K. Sleevareddy (Fr. Sleeva) served our parish from 1993-1995, he returned to India and St. Mary's created Project Mission India (PMI) to financially support Fr. Sleeva's socioeconomic and educational mission programs in India. He visited St. Mary's annually for over 30 years but now his health prevents him from doing so. Donations in support of PMI can be made on St. Mary's Online Giving page, with envelopes at the church entrances, or with the quarterly envelopes from envelope packets.

Thirty-five teens from our Together in Christ Family and ten chaperones (including Fr. Peter) left in style this morning for the Steubenville Youth Conference. The teens were all smiles; looking forward to an amazing weekend. Representatives of St. Mary's Knights of Columbus Council were on hand to present a "check" for $3,000 in support of our youth's spiritual journey. We are grateful to the Knights and all those who donated to defray the cost of the trip for our teens.
