Why should we have a devotion to the Sacred heart of Jesus? Jesus revealed His Sacred Heart as a symbol of His love for mankind to Sr. Margaret Mary Alacoque saying, “My divine Heart is so inflamed with love for mankind … that it can no longer contain within itself the flames of its burning charity and must spread them abroad by your means.” She described that His Heart was on fire and surrounded by a crown of thorns. Our Lord told her that the flames represented His love for humanity, and the thorns represented man’s sinfulness and ingratitude. The Feast Day of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is June12. To help us pray the Novena together from June 3 - 11. Barb Mogle of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and Diocesan Shrine has put together an easy to use printable Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus that includes the 12 Promises Jesus made to Sr. Margaret Mary Alacoque.
All are also invited to join us at Sacred Heart of Jesus Diocesan Shrine in Bowmansville on Friday, June 12, at 6 PM, as we unite in prayer with the entire country in consecrating the USA to the Sacred heart of Jesus in the year of America's 250th Anniversary.
Holy Mass and prayers for our country, the American flag, and our Catholic faith unite us on this special evening under God as we celebrate the Feast Day of the Sacred Heart of Jesus from our beautiful outdoor consecrated Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Shrine and Altar of Reparation right here in the Diocese of Buffalo.
After Mass, a special presentation by a well known Catholic speaker will prepare us for our upcoming Sacred Heart of Jesus 12-Month Pilgrimage that kicks off in July!
A reception will follow. The evening is a free, rain or shine event. A good will offering will be collected.
