St. Mary School Swormville Closed until April 20th- Preparing Student Lesson Packets for Distribution on Wednesday, March 18th
Good afternoon, Saint Mary School Parents,
This is our latest update regarding the closure of the school and our preparations for online learning.
As you probably already know, ALL schools in Erie County will remain closed until April 20th. We’ll be reassessing our ability to re-open on April 20th in early April. In the meantime, we can only confirm that all school activities will be cancelled or postponed until after April 20th.
As I indicated in my letter to you last Friday, we have prepared for online learning for our Montessori K-8 students, and even distance learning for our Montessori 3 and 4 year old children. To that end, we will be distributing Chromebooks and classroom materials for each student this Wednesday from the school cafeteria. To limit exposures, we ask you to remain in your car outside the cafeteria door, A7, and we will bring your child’s materials to your car. If you have a Montessori student, continue on to the Parish Center door, B1, and teachers will bring your child’s materials to your car, also.
We ask that you come at one of the following times:
· If you last name begins with A-F: Come to the cafeteria door between 9 and 10 a.m.
· If your last name begins with G-M: Come to the cafeteria door between 10 and 11a.m.
· If your last name begins with N-S: Come to the cafeteria door between 11 and 12 noon
· If your last name begins with T-Z: Come to the cafeteria door between noon and 1 p.m.
Directions and schedules for online classes will be distributed at that time, and also emailed to each family. Please read through the instruction pack that we include.
Classes will begin on Thursday at 9:00 a.m.
The school building is shutting down, effective Thursday at 2:30 p.m., and will remain closed through April 20th.
We’ll stay in touch and keep you updated as we approach this challenge one step at a time.
Thank you for your effort and support as we work together to help our children continue to grow and learn in the most protected possible environment.
God bless you! Stay safe!
Mary Jo Aiken
