Project Mission India Rebuilds Church
Project Mission India has been a special ministry here at St. Mary’s Swormville for over 20 years. Father Sleeva Reddy visits annually to speak of his mission work. St. Mary’s parishioners, have supported his works with great generosity in order to bring his people to Jesus and our Catholic faith.
In February of 2019, one of his local churches that was built 25 years ago, caught fire, causing significant damage. Father Sleeva used $10,000, from the Project Mission India funds, along with private donations to rebuild. He is thankful to St. Mary’s, as a large majority of the funds needed to rebuild came directly from this ministry.
The church, named Our Lady of Lourdes, was re-dedicated by Fr. Sleeva’s Bishop- Most Rev. Joji Govindu, Diocese of Nalgonda, South India, on February 11th, Our Lady’s Feast Day. Father Sleeva sent additional pictures of the Grotto, Pieta, Christmas Crib, and St. Anthony’s permanent statue that are on the church grounds for all to see.
Father Sleeva stays in contact with St. Mary’s throughout the year, and feels that St. Mary’s is his second family in Christ. He generally visits in the month of July, and assists with Masses here throughout his stay. We look forward to his visit and pray for his continued prosperity in India with his people and his ministries good works.
Donations can be submitted at any time throughout the year for Project Mission India to the St. Mary’s rectory, as envelopes are available.
