To My Fellow Parishioners at St. Mary’s,

We as a faith community have been through much over the last couple of years. Suffice it to say that with Fr. Bob leaving for his sabbatical, another chapter in our lengthy history has come to a close, but the book is not yet finished. A new chapter is opening, with blank pages that need to be filled in expressing the spirit and vitality of our parish.

I am sending this letter to let everyone know that we have not been forgotten by the Diocese of Buffalo with Fr. Bob’s resignation. I was informed last Monday by Fr. Mike Uebeler, the Director of the Priest Personnel Board that Bishop Edward Scharfenberger has appointed me as the Temporary Administrator of St. Mary’s Parish. I will be assuming the duties of the pastor effective Saturday, May 2, 2020. As part of this arrangement, Fr. Mike Uebeler, the pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Tonawanda, will be the Priest Moderator, a canonical appointment to supervise the pastoral care of our parish. Both positions are temporary while we wait for a new pastor to be appointed.

The one and only goal that I have during this time is to make St. Mary’s the very best version of herself. All I ask during this time is for your support and prayers. Things are difficult with the “pause” due to Covid-19. But when the restrictions are lifted, I hope and pray that all of you will return to our church ready to celebrate our vibrant liturgies, engage in parish activities and continue to build St. Mary’s into the God centered Catholic community we know we are.

I am only a phone call or email away to answer any of your questions or be available to assist with any pastoral need. May God bless all of you as we start a new chapter in the life of St. Mary’s Parish.

Yours in Christ,
Deacon Rick Stachura
Temporary Administrator
St. Mary’s Parish, Swormville
