 2.  Can any person in the world know the existence of God by their reason?

  • Catechism response – Yes. Human reason can know God with certainty. Every person is receptive to what is true, good, and beautiful. They hear within themselves the voice of conscience, which urges them to what is good and warns them against what is evil. Anyone who follows this path reasonably finds God.

 3.  Why did God make the people in the world?

  • Catechism response – God created us out of free and unselfish love. When a person loves, their heart overflows. They would like to share their joy with others. We get this from our Creator. Although God is a mystery, we can still think about him in a human way and say: Out of the “surplus” of his love he created us. He wanted to share his endless joy with us, who are creatures of his love.
